Are you looking for the biggest Pekin duck available? If you are, the Jumbo Pekin is for you! These ducks are bred for size! Males will grow to 11+ pounds and females to 9.5+ pounds.
Pekins are raised commercially, and when they are, breeders take both size and egg production into consideration. Usually, the males in a commercial production situation are big, while the females are a bit smaller but excellent egg producers.
In the breeding of Jumbo Pekins, however, both the parents are chosen for size, producing consistently large Pekin chicks. If you want a large duck for meat purposes, the Jumbo Pekin is an excellent choice.
While this strain of Pekin makes a fantastic farm yard or back yard duck, either for meat or as a pet, it is not a show breed. If you are want to show your ducks competitively, the Jumbo Pekin is not a good choice.
