Melanistic Mutant Pheasant Chicks
Hatching April to August.
If you would like to establish a wild pheasant population on your property, the Melanistic Mutant Pheasant is a very pouplar pheasant breed for you to consider.
Production: Melanistic Mutant Pheasants have a relatively high survival rate when released.
History: Most experts agree that the first mutants originated in Europe, at least 100 years ago, and is a color mutation of the more common Chinese Ringneck Pheasant. The Melanistic Mutant Pheasant is one of the most popular pheasants raised for release, in large part due to its hardiness and higher-than-average survival rate. The Melanistic Mutant Pheasants we raise are a pure breed.
Colors: Males are larger, with a long, barred tail and dark feathering that appears to have a blue-green iridescent sheen. Hens have similar plumage, shorter tail feathers, and overall smaller bodies.
