Bobwhite quail are produced on our game farms to supply you with day old chicks. The bobwhite quail is a favorite of many hunters. Hunters enjoy Bobwhite quail because bobwhites often lie close-by and is a fast flyer. Weight of a Bobwhite quail is five to six ounces (145-200 grams). Physical Description Northern Bobwhites are distinguished by a dark cap stripe behind the eye along the head, black in males and brown in females. The area in between is white on males and yellow-brown on females. The body is brown, speckled in places with black or white on both sexes. Range Bobwhite Quail are native to North America and northern Central America and the Caribbean. Commercial game bird farms raise thousands each year for release in the US and Canada. Eggs Bobwhite quail naturally lay about 15 eggs. Breeding: Bobwhite quail are easy to take care of and breed. The Northern Bobwhite Quail is a ground-dwelling bird. Incubation Bobwhite quail eggs can be hatched in a quail incubator very well. Temprament Spring time may bring out aggressive behavior in the Bobwhite quail males. Sounds The Northern Bobwhite's song is a rising, clear whistle, bob-White! or bob-bob-White! The call is most often given by males in spring and summertime. Other vocalizations include a range of squeaky whistles. Classification (Colinus virginianus) It is a member of the group of species known as New World quails (Odontophoridae). Variations Our game bird breeders of bobwhite quail also carry the Tennessee Red Bobwhite Quail. Bobwhite quail chicks are a great way to get started!
