Frequently Asked QuestionsPlease also check out these other pages for more information: How far in advance should I place my order? Please place your order as soon as you know when you know when and how many you want to order. We take orders starting in January for orders shipped any time in that year. You can chose what month or state ASAP. We suggest placing your order between two and six weeks prior to your desired delivery date, however many common breeds we have available with short notice, and on the rare types the wait might be longer. Please call us and ask. For RUSH orders, we recommend to "note as a comment" that it is OK to substitute similar kinds in the event we are short on one or two of your requested breeds rather than postponing to another ship/hatch date. When we receive your order, we look for the earliest possible date for ALL of your breeds requested and are available. When will my credit card be charged? Purely Poultry does charge the credit card immediately when you place your order to be able to reserve the chicks for you. When can I put young poultry outside? This depends on the weather. Baby Chicks and other baby poultry need the temperature to be 95 degrees for the first week and five degree less each week after that. When the weather outside is lower than that, then I would not advise putting the chicks outside. Also young chicks should not be rained on. As an estimate about six weeks would be good during late spring and the summer. Do you sell hatching eggs? Purely Poultry is no longer selling hatching eggs because we do such a great job at providing baby chicks and we guarantee it. We cannot guarantee eggs and had too many customers wanting us to guarantee them. Do you sell adult birds? We do not sell adult birds unless the product description states that this product is for an adult bird. Mostly the only adults we sell are for exotic waterfowl and pheasants. How old are the birds when they arrive? We ship the chicks the same day that they hatch. They arrive to you they are 24-72 hours old. We do NOT sell juvenile birds, or adult birds except for swans, ornamental pheasants, and cranes. I live in the city and need a quiet breed. What breed of chicken is most quiet? All chickens are equally noisy. Can I cancel my order? Chick orders that we can provide within 30 days of ordering are subject to 20% cancellation fee. No refunds on cancellations within 7 days of ship date. Can I change my order? Any order changes after the order has been processed will be subject to an $8.00 fee. May I recieve a catalog? We send catalogs each year in February and May. You can sign up to recieve a catalog at any time and we will send one out in our next printing. What does Sold Out mean? Sold out means that we expect those birds to be sold out for the year. There is a chance (the production increases) that we may have them again later in the year. If you are interested in finding out when we may have them available please sign up for a back in stock notification which is at the bottom of the page for each product. We might suggest ordering in February next year to get your order in before they are sold out for next year. We do not take pre-orders for the following year. When is a good time to call? We are generally in the office from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Central time. If I do not answer the phone please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. I had difficulties placing an order. Did it go through? If you successfully placed an order you would have recieved an order number and are asked if you would like to log out. Also you should recieve an invoice via email immediately. If you did not experience either of these please call us at 920-472-4068 to complete the order. Do you export? Can you ship to a different country? No, we only sell chicks to the United States and cannot export to Canada or any other country. Do you vaccinate for Marek's Disease? We do vaccinate for Marek's. Please click on that link and add Mareks Vaccine to your cart! Could we pick up our birds? We do not allow pickups at our office. In the spring we will have monthly Chick days at a local feed store. Details will be available January 2011. What magazines do you subscribe to? I am a member of the American Poultry Association, American Bantam Association, Society for Preservation of Poultry Antiquities, United Peafowl Association, and American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society. I also subscribe to Game Bird Gazette, Mother Earth News, Grit Magazine, Backyard Poultry Magazine, and the Poultry Press. We'd like to visit your farm. Do you allow tours? We do not allow visitors due to bio-security concerns. Also Purely Poultry is a sales office so there is not much to see. We can have chicks shipped to your post office. What is your minimum order? Our minimum orders are displayed on the Minimum Order page. |
