Peafowl are native to Asia. Technically, there are three species of peafowl: India Blues, Green and Congo. The India Blue peacock is what most people think of when they see or hear the word "peafowl," because it is the most common and because it has been domesticated for the longest.

Peafowl make wonderful pets. Aside from their natural beauty, they tend to be more affectionate than most other types of poultry. Plus, they discourage snakes and bugs. Peafowl are quite hardy, but do need shelter from extreme temperatures and plenty of room to roam.
