In some states a permit is required to keep pheasants. Please be sure to check your state’s regulations before ordering. If your goal is to establish a healthy wild population of pheasants, you may find it an exciting challenge. If you plan to raise and release for hunting each season you will probably be more successful. Since there are populations of wild pheasants in the US, people have obviously been successful in releasing them.

The Chinese Ringneck Pheasant have long tails and the males are bigger than the females. In the wild, they live in grassy areas where there is plenty of cover. Pheasants can fly, but not for very long, and spend the majority of their lives on the ground.
