Bantams are a small version of poultry including small chickens. The word bantam used for small poultry comes from the city of Bantam in Indonesia and was coined by European sailors who stocked up on small poultry near the Southeast Asian city for their long voyages. The small poultry was probably chosen to not take up as much space when aboard the ships.

Bantams are great for any backyard to provide beautiful and fresh eggs conveniently at your own home.
