These dark-feathered hybrid beauties are a cross between the highly sought-after Black Copper Marans and a Barred Plymouth Rock.  Know what that means?  Lots and lots of those beautiful darker shades of eggs, that's what!  We think you're gonna love them! These ladies make sweet additions to your flock and their eggs add that special farm-fresh appeal to every carton!  Chocolate Copper Queens are sex-linked, meaning that males and females are colored differently from hatching age. 

From copper to chocolate brown and every speckled shade in-between, each one of these hens will lay up to 300 eggs per year.  Each hen will lay a variety of colors throughout her lifetime, which is why they are so unique!  The Males are spectacular looking, as well, but crossing them will not breed true.  

The Chocolate Copper Layer is Purely Poultry's version of the popular Dominant Copper breed that is imported from the Czech Republic. They are a hybrid answer to the demand for dark egg layers and do what they are bred to do.
