The ABA published a Judging Manual for Bantam Ducks which was written by Judge Lou Horton in 1986. The author wanted to aid judges in how to use the Bantam Standard in how to judge classes of bantam ducks. Judges are expected to know how to judge bantam ducks but this book is to teach them how. This book is also very good for the breeder or exhibitor of bantam ducks so that he or she will know how their bantam ducks will be judged. There is an article on the general principles of judging bantam ducks. Lou Horton explains how to walk through each class of birds in several passes to look at the various parts of the ducks so that the judge can choose his best. There is a section about the different individual breeds and varieties including calls in white, gray, blue, snowy magpie, and black calls. There is also a section about black east, wood ducks, and Mandarin ducks. There is a section about the exhibition Mallard ducks,
