Day Old Extra Large Ringneck Pheasant Chicks

Hatching May to August.

The Ring-Necked Pheasant is native to China and East Asia but has been introduced to other parts of the world. It has remained one of the most popular and sought-after upland game birds. With its exceptional qualities as a meat bird, it also has high resistance to parasites and diseases that are common in ground-feeding birds. Not only that it is beautifully marked and colorful, but it is also highly desirable, manageable, and perfect for those looking for a good meat bird to hunt or enjoy. This is a challenging strain for dogs to get into flight as the bird tends to be a ground runner.

Production: This is a Mongolian strain often used for meat production. It is a larger framed bird that will produce a higher yield of meat. An Extra Large Ringneck Pheasant hen will lay 80-90 small brown eggs each spring.

Temperament: Being heavier, they are not as flighty as other strains, but still act wild. They are easier to handle being ground runners.

History: The Ringneck pheasant is a ground-dwelling bird of Asia that was first introduced to the United States in the 1800s. Since then, it has become a thriving species and popular for hunting sport.

Colors: Males have vibrant blue-green heads, red face wattles, and white neck rings. Females are duller colored.

Weights: Rooster 3.5-4 lbs, Hen 2.5-3 lbs
