It is very important to use appropriately sized waterers for chicks. Chicks can be clumsy and tend to fall into or even just walk into waterers that are too big. This gets them wet and cold, which is dangerous and can even lead to the chicks piling on top of each other trying to get warm again.
This Galvanized Quart Waterer Base works perfectly for providing water to your chicks and can be used from hatching until they are 4-6 weeks old. This base is the bottom part of a waterer; our Screw on Jar Plastic Quart or a standard mason jar would get screwed onto it to provide the water. This product is manufactured using quality galvanized steel, and features rolled edges for extra safety.
This base measures 1.25 inches high and is 5.5 inches wide. One would work great for brooding a small group of chicks, or several could be placed around the brooder for providing water to a larger number of chicks. This Galvanized Quart Waterer Base would also be appropriate for brooding other fowl such as poults, peachicks, and young pheasant.
This Galvanized Quart Waterer Base can be paired up with our Quart Galvanized Feeder Base for a classic-looking and highly functional brooder set-up.
