Day Old Royal Purple Guinea Keets

Royal Purple Guinea are dark black in color with a purple sheen. They have some dotting or "pearling" but are not as prevalent as some other varieties. They are considered partially pearled.
Guinea fowl are native to Africa. They are known as pest controllers and wonderful backyard guard birds due to their loud noises and wild behavior. They make a great addition to the backyard flock if you are looking for a tick and bug eater and a clown-like character to enjoy. The Royal Purple Guinea is a color variety of guinea.
Production: Guinea fowl are seasonal layers. In some cultures, they are used as a meat source, but mainly they are used for their eggs. Royal Purple Guinea fowl lay an average of 60-100 eggs per year.
Temperament: Royal Purple Guinea fowl has the same behavior and temperament as the other colors. Guinea Fowl are flighty birds and quite noisy. They are not suitable for city life, as they need a lot of space of at the very minimum a coop if not a run or free-range. The guinea hen can become broody and hatch out her young.
History: Guinea Fowl were domesticated 4,000 years ago by the Egyptians. The Guinea fowl made a wonderful table bird for the ancient people. In the 15th century, the guinea fowl was introduced by Portuguese traders into Europe. Since then Guinea fowl were domesticated further and have become a very popular bird.
