The chicks are shipped the same day that they hatch. When they arrive to you they are 24-72 hours old. Baby chicks ingest the yolk before they hatch. This is enough to feed the chicks and keep them happy until they arrive at their destination!

Live Guarantee: We guarantee that properly cared for birds will be alive and well for 24 hours after they arrive at your post office. After this 24-hour period, count the number of birds of each kind or breed that are ALIVE and WELL. If that number is LESS than the number you ordered, please fill out our Live Arrival Guarantee Claim Form found on the following link: http://www.purelypoultry.com/shippinginfo.html#lagform You may also call or email us and we will be happy to process the claim on your behalf. Please do not give us a dead count as we often include extra chicks to cover in the event of loss. YOU MUST REPORT the loss to us within 48 hours of receiving the shipment to be eligible for a credit. Purely Poultry is not responsible if customer does not pick up package within eight hours of arrival at the post office. We give store credit or refund for the cost of the birds. We do not credit shipping cost.
Ship Dates: Please specify a range of acceptable dates on the order form. As an example: I would like my chicks to arrive in March. (NOT I would like my chicks to arrive March 3.) After receiving the order, we will contact you by email with a ship date. Expect your order to arrive at your local post office in one to three days from the shipping date. Be aware that 98% of orders arrive within two days. We do our best to meet the scheduled shipment date. If we are unable to provide chicks on the scheduled hatch day, you can choose to reschedule or receive a refund or store credit. We ship chicks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We fill orders on a first come, first served basis, so it is important to place your paid order as soon as possible to get the best chance at earlier ship dates. Typically, an order can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Please let us know if you are willing to accept any substitutions to have a quicker ship date.
Substitutions: We reserve the right to substitute similar breeds in the event there is no common hatch date and you will be notified of the changes that were made. If a breed does not hatch as scheduled, we may substitute a similar breed, mail a partial shipment, or reschedule your order at our discretion.
Arrival: Chicks will be shipped to your post office, and they will call you upon arrival. You will need to pick up your chicks from the post office as soon as possible as they will not deliver them directly to you. The yolk sacs provide enough nutrition to feed and hydrate the chicks until they arrive at their destination. We ship the chicks in specially designed boxes with proper ventilation holes and packaging material.
Eggs: We guarantee eggs to arrive in good condition. We do not guarantee hatch rates nor fertility as this is not under our control. By ordering hatching eggs from us, you accept this responsibility. We do NOT give refunds on eggs because of fertility or hatch rates under any circumstances.
Books: We ship books Media Mail via the postal service. It usually takes one week for books to arrive, but can take up to two weeks.
Pickup: We do not offer local pickups. We use a nationwide network of breeders and hatcheries to offer a wide selection of poultry. We would be happy to arrange a shipment directly to your local post office.
Sexing Guarantee: We understand that people order male or female chicks for a reason, and we guarantee 100% accuracy in sexing. We will give a refund or store credit for birds sent of the wrong sex.
Cancellations are subject to a $10 fee. For orders over $100, a 10% fee will be applied. No cancellations within 2 weeks of the scheduled shipping date. If you decide to cancel your order, please call or email us with your order number and the reason for cancellation. Sometimes it is necessary for Purely Poultry to cancel an order, and we reserve the right to do so. If we cancel your order, you will be issued a full refund.
Returns: You are welcome to return merchandise (non-live) products, but not birds or eggs. If you need to return merchandise, simply do so within 30 days. Product must be in their original condition; if shrink-wrapped they must be unopened. Include the packing slip with your return so that we will know who will receive the credit. Should a return be a result of an error on our part, we will gladly pay the return shipping costs.
NPIP: The National Poultry Improvement Plan certifies all of our birds. Our NPIP information is on all packing slips. If you would like to receive the USDA NPIP paperwork for your birds, please indicate on your order.
Hawaii and Exporting: We ship all of our chicks via United Postal Service Priority Mail to the continental United States, and Alaska. We cannot export. We cannot provide documentation for Hawaii, Canada or any other country or territory.
Quality: We do not guarantee that the birds you receive will be exhibition quality birds. They will represent the variety and breed that you order. Most of our breeds are not show quality. Some of the rare breeds are as good as can be found, but we do not claim they are of show quality. We are working hard to expand the selection of poultry on our site and look forward to offering a complete line up of exhibition poultry in the future.
