Cochin chickens are friendly, beautiful birds that will become part of your family if given a chance, and Splash Cochins are no exception. They are also prized for their special coloring and will make a beautiful and happy addition to your flock. Splash Cochin is a particular favorite for backyard poultry flock owners and can be the perfect place to start if you've never kept chickens before.

Production: They are medium egg layers, averaging 120 brown eggs per year.

Temperament: Splash Cochins are very friendly with a calm nature, making good pets even for children. They are considered good setting hens and mothers, and will quite often go broody.

History: Cochins were originally bred in China. They were introduced to Great Britain in 1845 and have been bred for some time for particular qualities in the United States and Great Britain.

Color description: Splash Cochins vary from white with splashes of blue to almost blue with splashes of white, often in a gorgeous pattern that resembles a Monet watercolor painting.

Livestock Conservancy Status: Watch.

Body type: They have an impressively large and curvy body. Their luxurious feathers along with feathered legs make them look even bigger than they are.
