Day Old White Plymouth Rock Baby Chicks

White Plymouth Rock Chickens are an esteemed dual-purpose breed. Known for both its high-quality meat and its large brown eggs, this docile breed makes for the perfect backyard chicken. White Plymouth Rocks have a single comb and tolerate both hot and cold climates well. 

Production:  White Plymouth Rock Chickens produce a sizeable quantity of large brown eggs. Egg production often continues year-round, and generally averages upwards of 200 eggs annually. When encouraged, females can become broody and have the potential be very good mothers. This breed also produces an excellent source of meat and has a yellow skin color. 

Temperament: White Plymouth Rock Chickens are a friendly, easily-tamed breed. They are ideal backyard chickens, as they tend to get along well with both pets and people. This breed is not aggressive, making it a perfect addition to a family-friendly poultry farm. High fencing is not necessary, as White Plymouth Rock Chickens are not adept at flying. Although they do enjoy running freely and are good foragers, this breed does not require a lot of space.

History: White Plymouth Rock Chickens were first introduced in the late-nineteenth century and are named after the town from which they originated.  Female White Plymouth Rock Chickens are commonly used in commercial chicken production. This breed has sustained a great popularity for nearly 150 years due to its adaptability to various climates, docile manner, and excellent egg and meat production qualities. The White Plymouth Rock was admitted to the American Standard of Perfection in 1888.

Color Description: This is a truly prominent and beautiful breed. As the name implies, this variety of the Plymouth Rock Chicken has white feathering. These chickens have a yellow skin color with yellow legs and beak, and red facial coloring.
